Osmo Pocket 4&Osmo Pocket 3
Issue Description
After powering on the Osmo Pocket 4 or Osmo Pocket 3 by rotating the screen, the gimbal remains stowed and cannot be unlocked, with the prompt "Gimbal Protected" displayed
Solutions
1. Confirm whether the device has experienced any collision or drop.
If the device has experienced a collision or drop, or if the axis arm is misshapen due to compression, the gimbal may fail to unlock. We recommend sending the device back for inspection. Tap to apply for Online Repair Request.
2. Confirm whether the device firmware version is the latest.
Connect the device to the phone, open DJI Mimo app, check if there is a firmware update prompt in the app, and ensure the firmware is updated to the latest version.
3. Confirm whether the device was powered on/off continuously within 3 seconds or repeatedly powered on/off in a short period.
Since a relatively large pushing force is required for gimbal locking and unlocking, continuous force application within a short period may result in failure to unlock or lock securely. Frequent power on/off operations are not recommended.
4. Confirm whether the device has been stored in an environment below 0°C, or if the current operating environment temperature is below 0°C.
When the ambient temperature is below 0°C or when the device is brought indoors immediately from an environment of 0°C, the gimbal axis lock may fail to unlock. It is recommended to use this device within the operating temperature range of 0°C to 40°C.
5. Confirm whether the device has been operated to enter OTG mode.
After the device enters OTG mode, it will automatically enter "Gimbal Protected" mode. To prevent automatic startup when the device is placed flat upon exiting OTG mode, manually tap "Restore" after disconnecting the data cable.
6. Check if there is any debris between the gimbal axis arms.
Power off the device, check if there is any debris (such as sand, magnetic filters, stickers, etc.) obstructing the axis arm. If so, please remove the debris and then restart the gimbal.
7. If there is no response when tapping the screen and the device fails to exit the protected state, press and hold the Shutter/Record button for 10 seconds to force a shutdown, then power on the device again to check if it returns to normal.
8. Perform gimbal calibration (Recommendation: Restore factory settings before gimbal calibration).
If you have already performed the steps above and the issue persists, please provide the following information and contact DJI Support for further assistance.
DJI Pocket 2 & Osmo Pocket
Issue Description
A “Gimbal protected. Tap to resume” warning is displayed, and the gimbal becomes powerless, which cannot provide stabilization.
Cause of Issue
The gimbal cannot rotate smoothly if the product is placed to the platform horizontally after powered on, the product is powered on without removing the cover, or there are debris (e.g. gravel) on the gimbal axis arm.
Solutions
1. Tap the screen to clear the error, and then the gimbal can work normally. If the product is recording, the recording will not be interrupted.
2. Power off the gimbal and check whether there are debris between the axis arms. If yes, use a tool (e.g. small brush) to clean it, and then restart the product.
If the issue cannot be resolved through the above solutions, please send the product back to DJI for testing, and click to submit an Online Repair Request.
