When using a drone for the first time after unboxing, the drone, remote controller, and DJI account will automatically bind during activation to ensure the drone functions properly. If your device has been gifted or acquired through a second-hand transaction, and the previous owner has not completed the account transfer (i.e., changing the account associated with the device), you may encounter the following flight restriction prompt:
It is advisable that, following a second-hand transaction or gift, you manually rebind the drone, remote controller, and account to complete the binding relationship and ownership verification.
The process of re-binding is divided into the following three steps:
Step 1: Contact the original owner to unbind the drone and the original account.
Step 2: Once the previous owner has successfully unbound the drone from their account, the new owner can proceed to bind the drone to their account.
Step 3: The new owner then binds the drone to the remote controller.

FAQ
How do I check the currently bound account?
1. Check the account bound to a known drone: Tap “Profile > Device Management” to see the bound account.
2. To check the devices associated to a known account, log in to the DJI Fly app and view all devices associated with the account under “Profile > Device Management”.
The device functions properly with the original associated account, so why is there a need to unbind or rebind it?
1. When the binding relationship between the account, drone, and remote controller does not match the actual usage situation, it is usually due to using a non-bound account, or a non-bound remote controller.
• Operating with a non-bound account permits normal flight; however, in the event of a flyaway incident, only a bound account can produce a Flyaway Report.
• Using a non-bound remote controller, the app will prompt that the connected device is not bound to the drone, and there will be a limited number of flights.
2. If the remote controller with a built-in screen or the mobile app has not been connected to the internet for over 90 days, the app will log out of the current account. Using the drone without logging into an account will result in flight altitude and distance limits (maximum altitude of 30 meters and maximum distance of 50 meters).
3. If you log in with an unbound account, any cases such as flyaway or repair may be affected by the mismatched binding relationship, causing inconvenience to you.
• In the event of a flyaway incident, Flyaway Report can only be produced by logging into the app with the bound account. If you cannot log into the bound account, you will be unable to complete the Flyaway Report, prevent the original aircraft from taking off, or access the related benefits of the flyaway service.
Why do I need to contact the previous owner to unbind it?
Please kindly note that only the account owner has the right to unbind the drone with the associated account.
The reason of this limitation is because of protecting the ownership of the product and in respect of the user privacy and regulations. Therefore, the only solution is to contact your seller or the one who you purchased from to ask for the previous owner to login to his/her account and unbind the drone first, who can unbind it remotely without connecting the physical aircraft. And then you can login to your own account to bind it without any problem.
What can I do if I purchased the drone from Amazon/BestBuy/Local dealers, Auction Houses or Auction Website, or Pawnshops?
You are advised to contact the support from Amazon/BestBuy/Local dealers, Auction house or pawnshop and ask for them to contact the previous owner to login to his/her account and unbind the drone firstly, who can unbind it remotely without connecting the physical aircraft.
Then you can login to your own account to bind it without any problem. The reason of this limitation is because of protecting the ownership of the product and in respect of the user privacy and regulations.
