Using with the DJI Fly App

Applicable Products

DJI Flip, DJI Neo, DJI Air series, DJI Mini 4 Pro, DJI Mavic 3 Pro, DJI Mavic 3 Classic, DJI Mini 3 Pro, and DJI Mavic 3.

In the DJI Fly app, FocusTrack includes three sub-modes: Spotlight, ActiveTrack, and Point of Interest.

The following instructions take DJI Air 2S as an example to introduce how to use FocusTrack:

When using FocusTrack, ensure that the drone is in an unobstructed and open environment. After takeoff, fly the drone to an appropriate height above the ground.

There are three ways to enter the FocusTrack mode.

When the image transmission is displayed in the app, you can drag a box around the subject in the camera view.

Or enable Subject Scanning under the Control settings and wave your arm towards the drone. Alternatively, tap the green logo on the image transmission screen to lock on the target.

After locking the target, you can further select the tracking mode of the drone.

Spotlight

1. After entering FocusTrack and locking the tracking target, the drone will enable Spotlight by default.

2. Tap the Shutter button on the app interface or press the Shutter button on the back of remote controller to start shooting.

3. You can operate the control sticks to control the distance between the drone and the shooting target.

4. Toggle the gimbal dial and push the yaw sticker of the remote controller to adjust the composition angle.

ActiveTrack

ActiveTrack includes two modes: Trace and Parallel.

1. Trace

① Select the Trace mode and tap “GO”, and the drone tracks the subject at a constant distance.

② During the flight, the drone will automatically calculate the distance from obstacles, plan the route, and avoid the obstacles.

2. Parallel

① When the Parallel mode is selected, the drone tracks the subject at a constant angle and distance from the side.

② After selecting the Parallel mode, tap “GO”, and then tap the Shutter button on the app interface or press the Shutter button on the  remote controller to start shooting.

If the target is lost, the drone will hover in place.

Point of Interest

1. Ascend the drone to an appropriate height above the ground, lock the target, and select Point of Interest (POI).

2. Set the flight direction and speed of the drone, and the drone will take the target as the center and automatically calculate the flight radius.

3. The drone will maintain the current altitude and fly around the target. Tap the Shutter button on the app interface or press the Shutter button on the remote controller to start shooting.

Tap “Stop” on the flight interface or press the Flight Pause button on the remote controller once to exit FocusTrack.

Using with the DJI GO 4 App

Applicable Products

Mavic 2 series, Mavic Pro series, Spark, and Phantom 4 series

In the DJI GO 4 app, ActiveTrack includes three modes: Trace, Parallel, and Spotlight.

When using ActiveTrack, ensure that the drone is in P-mode and flies in an unobstructed and open environment. Make sure that the Intelligent Flight Battery is sufficiently charged. After takeoff, fly the drone to an appropriate height above the ground.

Tap the Intelligent Flight Modes icon on the left side of the camera view and select ActiveTrack.

Tap the green circle or drag a frame around the subject on the screen, and then tap “GO” to start ActiveTrack.

1. Trace

① Drag the slider below the target to automatically fly in a circle around the subject. Slide to the left, and the drone flies clockwise. Slide to the right, and the drone flies counterclockwise. To stop flying in a circle, tap the white circle in the middle of the slider.

② When detecting an obstacle, if no action is performed on the remote controller, the drone will try to bypass the obstacle (by flying upward, downward, left, or right). If any action is performed on the remote controller, the drone will brake and hover in place.

③  When SLOW is selected, the drone will track the target at a flight speed no more than 12 m/s, and the left and right sensing systems take effect. When FAST is selected, the drone can fly at a maximum speed of 20 m/s, and the aircraft cannot avoid obstacles.

2. Parallel

① The aircraft tracks the subject at a constant angle and distance from the front and side to achieve front or side tracking. During tracking, use the throttle stick, pitch stick, roll stick, and right dial on the remote controller to control the drone. Please note that the yaw stick and left dial are disabled.

② In this sub-mode, the aircraft brakes and hovers in place once an obstacle is detected.

③ Tap the X icon on the left side of the camera view to exit Parallel.

3. Spotlight

① In the Spotlight mode, the aircraft does not track a subject automatically, but keeps the camera pointed in the direction of the subject during flight. The remote controller is used to maneuver the aircraft orientation and gimbal.

② Tap the green circle or drag a frame around the target on the screen.

③ When detecting an obstacle, the aircraft brakes and hovers in place.
