3) A video showing the tracking effect after the gimbal parameters have been restored.
Scenario 2: After the subject is selected, the gimbal moves up and down during tracking.
Possible Causes of Issue
1. The tracking speed is too fast.
2. The scenario is complex, as the subject and the background cannot be clearly distinguished, resulting in subject recognition difficulty.
Solutions
1. After the format equivalent is calculated based on the camera or lens model, please refer to the table below to set the ActiveTrack speed. (The measurements in the ActiveTrack speed adjustment table were obtained on the A7M3 camera using lenses of different focal lengths. The performance varies based on different camera brands and lenses. Please adjust the speed by ±1 according to the actual situation.)
Format Equivalent | ActiveTrack Speed |
12 | 30 |
16 | 26 |
18 | 24 |
24 | 20 |
30 | 17 |
35 | 15 |
40 | 13 |
45 | 12 |
50 | 11 |
55 | 10 |
60 | 9 |
65 | 8 |
2. Please make sure that the tracking environment is bright enough.
3. Please make sure that there is a sharp contrast between the tracked subject and the background to clearly distinguish between the subject and background.
Scenario 3: After the subject is selected, the gimbal is skewed to one side.
Possible Cause of Issue
The tracking speed is set too fast.

Scenario 4: After the subject is selected, the gimbal rotates erratically or drifts.
Possible Cause of Issue
The actual installation position of the camera is “horizontal”, but the ActiveTrack direction is “vertical”.
Solutions
1. Please confirm the camera installation direction.
2. Please confirm the set ActiveTrack direction.
3. Make sure that the camera installation direction and the ActiveTrack direction are the same.
Tips:
1. If the ActiveTrack direction is set to “Vertical”, make sure that the bottom of the camera is close to the side of the tilt motor, and then install the camera.
2. For more precautions about using ActiveTrack in Portrait mode, please refer to How do I use ActiveTrack in Portrait mode on a DJI Ronin series product?
Scenario 5: After the subject is selected, the gimbal rotates erratically or drifts (for Ronin-S and Ronin-SC).
Possible Cause of Issue
There is an error with the display direction and actual direction on the ActiveTrack interface, resulting in a tracking error.
Solutions
1. Please turn your mobile phone in the reverse direction.
2. Please disable the “Orientation Lock” in the “Control Center” of the mobile device.
If the issue persists after going through the above steps, please contact DJI Support for help.
